Your Mindset = Your Success
Do you know what the key to success is? Yes, we need hard work, focus and persistence. But the most powerful thing we can develop is a strong mindset!
There have been found to be 2 types of mindset, Fixed, and Growth.
A Growth Mindset is found in people who are focused most on learning. They see effort as a way to grow and understand that setbacks are just an opportunity to improve. These people *want* to challenge and push themselves.
In contrast, a Fixed Mindset is found in people who spend most of their time worrying about how they’re judged. They see effort as a bad thing and would rather stay safe in their comfort zone. When pushed out of it, they conclude that they are incapable, and as a result withdraw, lose interest or give up. As an outside force, our observation is that they have a lack of motivation, but it’s really evidence of a Fixed Mindset.

The Physiological Manifestations of Mindset
There’s are the physiological manifestations to mindset – you can find brain scans to prove it!
For those with Growth Mindset, the brain becomes more active when receiving information about what they could do better, wanting to improve.
While those with a Fixed Mindset, the brain becomes more active when receiving information about a grade or score, worrying about how they’re being judged.
Interesting stuff, right?!
We can see evidence of this mindset in all areas of life; school, workplace, home life, and so on.
Has this Fixed Mindset ever shown up in your life?
Has a friend ever asked you to join them for an adult painting class, or an evening making pottery? And you answered “no, I’m not a creative person.” Then that’s where your creativity ends, before it’s even started.
Or did you go once, never to return, because you thought you were bad at it?
This is evidence of Fixed Mindset showing up for you!
What Steps Can We Take?
The good news is, our brains are malleable, so even if you’re currently stuck in a Fixed Mindset, there are ways you can shift into a Growth Mindset – the mindset of successful people!
Remember that the greatest achievers today were not born achievers and often struggled in early life or school, instead they built their abilities over time. Some of my favourite teachers (Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, David Goggins, etc) had a rough start in life, and a bad mindset because of it. But look where they are now!
To start fulfilling our potential, we must change our mindset. We are ever growing, ever changing beings, and just because you are not a ‘creative’ person today, doesn’t mean you can’t be tomorrow.
The belief that you CAN do it, you can grow, and you can achieve success is the secret to creating a Growth Mindset.
