How To Stop Procrastinating And Start Prioritising

Everyone on this planet has the same number of hours in a day as each other, and yet there seems to be a drastic contrast between those who use their time wisely, and those who don’t. Here are my top tips to stop procrastinating and start prioritising.

More often than now, we spend so much time telling people: “I don’t have time!”

Really, this equates to: “I don’t want to do it!”

“I don’t have time to exercise” = “I can’t be bothered to exercise”

But if you enjoyed exercise, and this was a priority for you, your internal monologue would look more like:

“I always have time to exercise” = “I enjoy exercise, it is a priority for me”

The point is, you can always find time to do something when it’s a priority. There doesn’t need to be more hours in the day, but a shift in your priorities.

So, be honest with yourself…What’s currently on your priority list?

  • 3 hours of Netflix before bed
  • 30 mins prepping healthy the night before
  • 2 hours scrolling through Instagram
  • 5 mins meditating after waking and before bed
  • 1 hour spent procrastinating between jobs
  • 20 mins journaling on the highs and lows of the day

If you’re thinking “oh my gosh, how does she know?” don’t worry! I’ve been guilty of binge-watching Netflix shows until 2 in the morning…

How To Stop Procrastinating And Start Prioritising?

Start by figuring out what your priorities ARE: Think about your 2021 performance review. Imagine it has been an *amazing* year. What 5 things happened throughout the year that made it so amazing?

Did you learn a new language? Take up a new exercise class? Volunteer? Spend more time with your children? Start a new hobby? Create a morning routine?

Yay. Now you know what you want to achieve within the next year – these are your priorities.

Put them in your calendar FIRST. Before the other stuff. Live a week in your life and see where you can fit these in. It might not be easy at first, especially for those running multiple businesses, looking after children, or homeschooling!

But we ALL have 168 hours in a week, there *is* time for your priorities – without compromising a full-time job, side hustle, or your sleep!

When we find ourselves with 30 minutes of free time? We pull out the phone, turn on the TV, or delete emails. These are time-sucking habits. Notice them and flip the script.
