If anyone follows me on social media – especially Instagram – you’ll know that I talk about The Miracle Morning, A LOT!

It dawned on me that maybe not everyone knows what I’m talking about when I mention this, so, I thought I’d give you a quick rundown.

Wake up every morning ready for your morning routine

I read The Miracle Morning: The Not-so-obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life Before 8AM by Hal Elrod a few years ago. Overnight it changed my life.

I’m big on productivity, health & wellness and personal growth, I basically live in the self-help section of Waterstones!

My mornings – before anyone else woke up – had always been my most productive time of day. I was interest to learn how I could ensure I was making the most of this time and fitting as much in as possible.

Start your day with the miracle morning

The idea is that the first hour of your day sets the tone for the rest of your day, so The Miracle Morning outlines the best possible way to do this with 6 transformative habits: 10 minutes each, for 1 hour as soon as you wake up. Elford created an anagram out of these habits making it easier to remember: S.A.V.E.R.S

Silence

Quiet your mind before it wakes up. This is likely the only moment in the day you will have time to check in with yourself and focus on your breathing. This is a great space for mediation, mindfulness or prayer.

Affirmations

Listen to, write or speak out loud some affirmations. You can write your own or look them up! Whatever feels right for you. We can often get caught up in negative self-talk, and this is a moment to consciously talk kindly to ourselves and about what we would like from our day. Think of them as positive statements!

Take time to meditate in the morning

Visualisation

Visualise in your mind’s eye your goals, your day to day to do list, or a forever dream. Imagine everything working out best case scenario. See the success. Feel the joy. If it’s easier, consider your 5 senses, what can you see/hear/taste/smell/touch? This creates the blueprint for your subconscious brain!

Exercise

This is an obvious! Get moving, get fitter and feel happier too! Rather than feel lethargic in the morning, you’ll have a boost of energy leaving you positively bouncing off the walls!

Activate your brain by taking a few minutes to read – religious texts, educational books, or your favourite magazine!

Find a morning routine that works for you

Scribe

Empty your brain before you get into the day! You could free flow, write whatever comes to mind (also known as automatic writing) or have a serious of questions ready to answer, like ‘How could I help myself to feel my best today?’. Writing about your dreams is fun too, it becomes easier to remember them after a while.

Find calm within your morning routine

Don’t be fooled! I don’t do this every day, and when I do, I don’t always do 60 minutes or all 6 things! Keep it light-hearted and mould The Miracle Morning to work for you and your routine!

I personally LOVE meditation and affirmations, so when I get 20 minutes to myself before the world wakes up, these are the things I prioritise – however rarely!
